Well, the piece is a thoughtful meditation on the vagaries of expertise and problematic judgments of deference. I’d have been more impressed if all the examples of highly questionable claims of expertise weren’t coded politically left. We seem to have traded out heavily credentialed DEI experts for the heavily uncredentialed populist authenticity of Pete Hegseth, Bobby Kennedy, Kash Patel, and an astonishing cast of other disastrous know-nothings. Mr. Traldi doesn’t seem to notice here that reactionary, performative anti-expertise might generate even worse outcomes than establishment group think. The problem here is more complicated than at first appears - just sayin’.

An useful discussion. There is too much general bashing of expertise. We do need it and we need to insure experts stay in their lane. Any attempt to suppress dissent should be viewed with extreme suspicion so we don't repeat the COVID lunacy.
